Two new bars set to launch in growing Barnsley retail and hospitality complex

Two new venues are set to open their doors at a retail destination in South Yorkshire.

Barnsley Council and development partner Queensberry have announced that two new bars have signed up to The Glass Works in Barnsley.

True Independent Group (TiG) owned bars, SALT ROCK and BLACK & WHiTE, are set to launch at the mall in December.

SALT ROCK will be located in the new building to the north of The Glass Works Square on the corner between Eldon Street and Kendray Street, and will serve local and continental food alongside specialist cocktails.

BLACK & WHiTE will be located alongside Coffee Boy with its entrance on May Day Green, and will feature a tapas menu along with over 100 wines.

Matthew Crisp, managing director of TiG, commented: “We are delighted to be investing in Barnsley – a town that really is on the up.

“Our new venues in The Glass Works will open before Christmas and we are confident they will take Barnsley’s nightlife to a new level – bringing a more refined and sophisticated offer right into the heart of the town.

“Our ambition is to deliver venues of undeniable quality for the people of Barnsley. As shown with Cucina Sky Lounge in Market Kitchen, our fit-outs are second to none and we believe the new bars will be up there with anything the big cities have to offer.”

Alex Hyams, senior leasing manager at Queensberry, added: “Interest in Barnsley and The Glass Works remains strong. We are delighted with these latest deals, which see a regional operator bring two fresh and contemporary concepts to The Glass Works Square.

“We continue to work hard to attract more high-quality occupiers to the town and will be making some exciting announcements in the weeks and months ahead.”
