EMG Solicitors continues to grow...

A NORTH EAST firm of solicitors is celebrating its continued success, with further recruitment and plans to open a third office.

EMG Solicitors, which is based at both Durham and at Gosforth, Newcastle, is now to expand its area of operations, with the news it intends to launch a branch in the Lake District.

And the move comes hot on the heels of the practice receiving its first ever top tier ranking in the Legal 500 for its work in Tax, Trusts and Probate, with managing director, Emma Gaudern, once again listed as a “leading individual.”

The practice has continued to grow, having doubled its number of team members to 73 in the past two years.

EMG, which provides services across Court of Protection, Wills Trusts and Probate, family, employment, residential conveyancing and commercial property has also continued with its huge range of charitable commitments.

This includes its own EMG Charitable Foundation where five per cent of the company’s profits are given to support a number of good causes.

Organisations which have benefited from the Foundation are The Millin Trust, which provides self-employment and work training for long-term unemployed women in Newcastle and Gateshead.

Also supported are Newcastle Women’s Aid, Investing In Children and Bowes FC, where the money was used to help bring a local community facility back into use and Durham City Youth Project.

The firm is also a major sponsor of this year’s Lumiere, the UK’s largest festival of light which takes place in Durham from November 18 to 21.

The growing team meant that the firm had already been looking at hybrid working before Covid-19, but also wanted to find ways to ensure that people working from home still felt engaged.

With that in mind EMG brought its IT support in-house and now offers all the equipment needed to work from home along with developing a web and app-based booking system to allow people to reserve a desk if they need to come into the office.

The introduction of an electronic post room has led to efficiencies in the time it takes to process letters, with the processes constantly being improved and updated.

The company’s IT team is also developing a system to improve the way that clients are engaged with digitally and enjoy the same level of service as they would receive in a face to face encounter.

Emma Gaudern, Managing Director of EMG Solicitors, said the company was on course for its continued growth strategy.

“We’re delighted to have such a strong team in every department of the business,” she said.

“Last year we took on 23 new team members and are continuing to expand. I’ve been delighted with the quality of candidates wishing to work with us since introducing our trainee recruitment scheme and I am looking forward to helping create the new generation of legal professionals at EMG.”

EMG Solicitors has full Lexcel accreditation, the legal practice quality mark for client care, compliance and practice management run by The Law Society.
