Taylor&Emmet lends a paw at Bears auction

A team of volunteers from solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, will be helping ensure the much anticipated ‘Bears of Sheffield’ auction runs smoothly.

A total of 14 staff from the firm’s Sheffield offices will be giving up their afternoon and evening on Monday October 18 to support organisers of the auction, The Children’s Hospital Charity.

Members of Taylor&Emmet’s conveyancing, clinical negligence, family law and support teams will be at the Crucible Theatre to undertake welcome, registration and general duties for the charity auction, hand out goodies during the interval and assist successful bidders. Three members of staff will also be helping at the farewell event for the bears, being held at Meadowhall, from October 14-17.

Michaela Heathcote, Taylor&Emmet’s head of family law, will be volunteering at both events. She said: “The Sheffield bear trail has been a real highlight of the summer for many families, including my own, bringing colour and positivity to the city’s streets. My colleagues and I are really pleased to be making a practical contribution to Monday’s auction and we look forward to seeing bidders dig deep for this fantastic cause.”

The Bears of Sheffield auction is an opportunity for local businesses and members of the public to own one of the 60 big bear sculptures, designed by local and international artists, that have graced the city’s public spaces from July to September. All money raised by the sale will help fund a new cancer and leukaemia ward at Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital.

Suzanne Jenkin, volunteer co-ordinator for the Bears of Sheffield, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at Taylor&Emmet for kindly supporting our Bears of Sheffield auction.

“The Bears of Sheffield would not have been possible without all the volunteers who signed up to get their paws dirty behind the scenes and ensure its success for Sheffield Children’s Hospital. We hope the auction night next week can complete our fundraising for the new cancer and leukaemia ward, so on behalf of everyone in the Charity Team, thank you Taylor&Emmet for stepping up at this crucial time.”
