Promotion For Young Planner, Anna Mackay

Specialist urban planning consultancy, Hybrid Planning & Development has announced the promotion of Anna Mackay from assistant planner to planner.

After joining the East-London based firm in November 2019, Anna has consistently proven she has the drive and knowledge to become an excellent planner, so the case for promotion was straightforward for Hybrid’s directors.

“Quite simply, Anna’s reached a point in her career where she has amassed the skill set and understanding to move to the next level,” explains Danielle St Pierre, Hybrid’s director and Anna’s mentor. “She is managing complex, multi-phased projects with ease, including urban brownfield regeneration schemes in major cities, and is both trusted and respected by her clients and colleagues. Determined, insightful and a real team player, the quality of Anna’s work always shines through and she is thoroughly deserving of this promotion.”

A graduate of the University of Manchester with a BA in Geography, Anna’s current projects include The Copperworks redevelopment in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter to provide 239 new homes, and the regeneration of the former Powergen site in Ashford, Kent into 400 new homes. Working alongside the contractor and developer, Anna is making amendments to both schemes to ensure their viability. In addition, Anna is also working towards associate membership of the RTPI.

Anna said: “I’m very excited to be promoted to planner. Coming from a background of geography, I really only had limited experience in the planning sector, but have had the privilege of working within an incredibly supportive and patient team. With their assistance and guidance, I’ve been able to develop my knowledge through working across a range of interesting projects and am eager to continue progressing my career at Hybrid.”

Hybrid’s director, Claire Day added: “Anna is a fantastic representation of the next generation of planners; she’s ambitious, insightful and an absolute safe pair of hands. Her promotion coincides with an exciting time for our team as we were recently shortlisted for two RTPI London Planning Excellence Awards; Planning Team of the Year and Young Planner of the Year for our senior planner, Hannah Fawdon. To be able to draw upon such a huge breadth of talent from within our team is exceptionally rewarding and we are proud to champion the growth of these skilled professionals.”
