Newcastle pipeline engineering firm generates £400k in contracts in first year

A Newcastle pipeline engineering business has secured a number of contracts worth over £400k in its first year.

Frontline Integrity is working with several oil, gas and mining companies, with its team of engineers working on projects as far afield as Brazil, India and New Zealand.

Founded by engineer Brian Kerrigan, the company offers independent consultancy and software solutions to support pipeline operators manage the integrity of high pressure pipeline systems, protecting people and the environment.

Commenting on the firm’s success, Brain said: “A few weeks before the pandemic, I had just left my full time job to support my wife, who was building an educational virtual reality business. However, a month later our plans went up in smoke and I decided to set up Frontline Integrity from the bedroom.

“As the entire world was working remotely, it allowed us to gain traction at a much faster pace while other businesses were trying to handle the transition”.

After participating in the Be More Digital programme and receiving one-to-one support from an international trade advisor, the company was able to successfully secure contracts with clients in Brazil, India and New Zealand as well as supporting projects in the North Sea.

Brian added: “The support from the DIT was absolutely fantastic and I can’t thank them enough”.

“Not only did the team help us understand all of the complexities around the legalities associated with exporting, but we were also able to procure the services of trusted third-party organisations to assist with contracts and ultimitily, the management of business risk.”

“In addition, we received guidance in developing our bespoke export strategy as well as support around the redevelopment of our website. The DIT have really helped us to put all of the building blocks in place so we can scale the business at pace, both here in the UK and overseas.”

The company has ambitions to continue growing its headcount this year, with two new members scheduled to join the team in the next few weeks.
