National law firm Weightmans advises London political and regulatory specialist on growth investment
National law firm Weightmans has advised Flint Global, the business advisory firm specialising in political, policy, regulatory and competition issues, on an investment in it by Growth Capital Partners (GCP).
The Weightmans team provided legal support throughout the deal, which saw GCP take a minority stake to support the evolution of the firm’s growth, ongoing talent acquisition and investment in core service offerings.
Flint Global was founded in 2015 by chairman Nigel Gardner and managing partners Ed Richards and Simon Fraser. Since then, Flint has grown rapidly, supporting clients across industries including financial services, pharma, technology, energy and telecoms.
It operates three practice areas; advising businesses in policy and political analysis, competition and regulation, and markets and investor advisory.
Now, with GCP’s backing, the team will work to consolidate the firm’s market position and embark on its next phase of growth.
The founders of Flint said: “We are extremely pleased to have concluded an investment from GCP with support from the team at Weightmans. We are proud of what we have built in Flint and have always sought excellence in our service to clients, the people we have recruited and our culture.
“We are confident that this transaction will put is in a strong position to create more opportunities for our team, strengthen our service offer, and accelerate the future growth of Flint.”
Paul Raftery, partner at Weightmans, added: “Flint Global is an incredibly exciting company, and has carved out a niche operating at the interface of government and business, offering a highly-specialised service. The investment is an important step in unlocking the next phase of its growth journey”.
The team at Weightmans was led by partners Paul Raftery and William Sharpe, and principal associate Catherine Hendy. GCP was advised on its investment by Osborne Clarke. David Coombes of Coombes Corporate Finance provides corporate finance advice to Flint Global.
