British video game developer scales up with eight figure HSBC funding package

A British video game developer is set to scale up with an eight-figure funding package from HSBC UK.

The business, Rebellion, has purchased a new HQ in Oxford to support its expansion plans. The new five-acre site will more than double the size of its current space, taking it to 217,800 sq ft. The funding will also support the development of Rebellion’s studios in Didcot, as it increases investment in its virtual production capabilities.

The funding has also been used to support the development of a new video game in the business’s global best-selling Sniper series. The latest game, Sniper Elite 5, will be released early this year.

Jason Kingsley, owner and CEO of Rebellion, said: “HSBC UK has supported the business as we prioritise our wider growth strategy. The new site in Oxford is a key element of this and will allow us to continue to hire additional staff, as well as providing increased space for our offices and creative studios.

Rebellion was founded in 1992 by Jason and Chris Kingsley and produces games, books, comics, TV, film and board games. The company is known for its Sniper Elite and Zombie Army series of games.
