New eye health clinic brings 19 jobs to Northampton

A new eye health clinic and surgical centre will open in Northampton next month with the aim of offering greater choice to local patients.

Newmedica Northampton has created 19 new jobs, and will operate from a state-of-the-art facility in Westbury Court, Moulton Park, Northampton. It is the latest venture from the independent health provider with clinics across England, and has free onsite parking and good public transport links.

The team at Newmedica Northampton will offer patients treatment for their eye conditions, allowing them to get back to their normal lives quickly.

When it opens, the clinic and surgical centre will provide NHS and private treatment for cataract surgery and aftercare, and will also offer YAG laser treatment (a treatment used after cataract surgery) and glaucoma care. There are plans to offer additional services, including oculoplastics, in the coming months.

Newmedica Northamptonshire will be run by a team of five local partners, operational director Michelle Mulvaney and consultant ophthalmologists Mr Bimal Kumar, Mr Muneer Otri, Mr Julian Robins and Mr Anant Sharma.

Michelle, said: “We’ve had a long journey to be ready to open in Northampton, and we are delighted that we are almost ready to go.

“We really look forward to working with optometrists and other local partners to give patients the treatment they need locally in a timely way. We are accepting referrals now ahead of opening, so please get in touch with us.

“We’ve been welcomed really warmly already locally, and want to thank everyone we’ve already been in contact with for their kindness.

Michelle concluded: “Across the country, Newmedica patients tell us every day how delighted they are with the treatment and care they have received, and we can’t wait to share that experience with the people of Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and beyond.”
