Four Journal Prompts to Help You Shift Blocks Surrounding Fear and Adversity So You Can Surf to Success in Life and Business
Former secondary school teacher, Louisa Herridge, 42 from, Warrington, Cheshire, is now a Mindset and Positive Psychology Empowerment Coach and Founder of the global movement Mamas Ignited.
This Northern powerhouse continues her global movement, to empower women by giving them the tools to ignite the spark of self-belief and extinguish adversity and fear to live a more fulfilled life – just like she did.
Louisa describes herself as being like ‘the glorious Phoenix, who has risen from the ashes of debt, domestic abuse, trauma, chronic pain and depression to be reborn in flames as the blazing leader.’ Her passion and fire for personal growth comes from her own lived experience.
This week she is celebrating the launch of her inspirational book “Stop Ironing, Start Living”, which flew straight in at Number 1 on the Amazon bestseller charts knocking New York Times best selling author, former Hindu monk, and life coach Jay Shetty off the top spot.
Louisa said; “In my search for a happy ever after, my dreams got lost along the way. ‘Mamas Ignited: Stop Ironing, Start Living’ is my story, your story, our story because we have all at times wanted more… and that NEVER involves more ironing!
In the past couple of years, Louisa has left her teaching role, published three best-selling books and is committed full-time to helping other women rewrite their story and ignite their dreams, (just like she did), through mindfully connecting more closely to themselves, finding and fuelling their renewed fire. She does this through sharing her own story and using a range of coaching techniques with her SPARK system, with the main focus being on; mindset, mindfulness and motivation, underpinned by positive psychology tools and interventions. Louisa also takes women wanting MORE through a process to ignite impact by creating their own dream business.
Louisa’s mission is driven by her story, she said; “I want to help women to tap into their story and be able to speak from the scar not the wound, using it to ignite their overall impact. I have had my share of adversity and know how hard it can be to stop listening to your inner critic, voice of doom and the tight grip of imposter syndrome and anxiety; I understand your fear of judgement or failure; I had it too. As a mindset and empowerment coach, I work with women to help them to find their spark - whether that be personally or in their businesses - so that they can turn up the dial on living lives they actually love, transforming their ironing boards into surfboards that will ride the waves of their next adventure!”
**Here are four easy journal prompts from Louisa that you can use to help you to shift blocks surrounding fear and adversity, so that you can Surf to Success every day in life and business. **
· FEAR - Spend five minutes writing about a time you felt an irrational fear. Something that your mind was telling you that you couldn’t do. Write about it in your journal. How did you feel, what emotions overcame you? Now ask yourself - What strength did you use to overcome it? Hope, determination, reframe etc – journal on how you got out of the irrational thinking. Write an affirmation to clarify that you can do that thing. You are not held back by it. Fire Fact - The brain is so powerful, but if we become stuck in fear, also known as the Freeze response, we can feel even worse. It takes 66 days to create new habits/ways of thinking so reframe that thought. Retrain your brain to think otherwise and then keep telling it so!
· IGNITE - Journal about a time where you felt really energised/in a high energetic state. What emotions were you feeling? Rate the energy 1-10. Rate your Happiness 1-10. This is an example of being in flow and playing to your strengths. Set a non-negotiable time in your day for you to be in flow, in the moment. This can be for pleasure or business - e.g writing, playing piano, meditating, walking in nature… When in flow we truly IGNITE and can complete our best work. In your journal explore how you felt in flow and how you can make this a daily ritual. Fire Fact – Flow Theory tells us that to be in flow we need the right level of challenge and to be at one with what we are doing so that we lose track of time.
· RISE - What are you grateful for in life? Visualise when you are the happiest and write about it in your journal. Write about the emotions you are feeling. Make a list of things that you are grateful for in your memory. Fire Fact – In Positive Psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently linked with greater happiness.
· EMPOWER - Relationship are so important in business and life. Make a list of the groups of people that are important to you. Journal about who makes your life meaningful.Write a letter to someone in your circle/community/family to express your gratitude for how they have supported you. It is up to you if you wish to send it! Fire Fact – To have a meaningful life one of the key components is a sense of ‘belonging’.
