East Yorkshire housebuilder to support “hundreds” of jobs in regeneration scheme
An East Yorkshire-based housebuilder has submitted plans for 600 new homes to complete a major residential regeneration scheme and support hundreds of jobs.
Beal Homes is making a long-term investment of £150m in The Greenways, which is the largest residential development in Goole for decades and a vital element of an ongoing wave of regeneration which is transforming the East Yorkshire town.
The Greenways is the biggest single development in the family-owned housebuilder’s history of almost 55 years and demand has been strong, with more than 100 homes sold and more than half of the purchased properties now occupied.
It also supports the creation of hundreds of jobs locally by companies such as Siemens Mobility, which is developing a £200m rail manufacturing facility in Goole, and chemicals company Croda, which has built a new worldwide distribution hub in the town.
A site of around 2.7 acres suitable for a potential primary school has been included in the proposed layout of the development. The plans also include a pedestrian and cycle route through the site and a new public right of way around the perimeter.
Richard Beal, chief executive, Beal Homes, said: “This planning application demonstrates our commitment to completing this much-needed development and to making a very significant contribution to the regeneration of Goole.
“It also reflects the tremendous success of the first phase of The Greenways. Demand has been incredibly strong and the sales momentum has been exceptional.
“The Greenways is providing high-quality, contemporary homes for local people and families drawn to Goole by the many new opportunities in Goole. It’s an essential element of the unprecedented investment now being delivered in the town.
Richard added: “Phase one of The Greenways is creating a highly attractive new neighbourhood. Approval for these plans will enable many more people to join this community and provide a major economic and social boost for Goole and the wider area.”
