Service Boost for Local Packaging Firm Southgate
In response to the continued boom in sales of packaging machinery, Southgate Global, which has its head office based at Sterling House in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, has appointed a new Service Manager to run its expanding Service & Repair Team.
As one of Europe’s leading packaging suppliers, Southgate offers an extensive service and support facility for customers who purchase its packaging machinery and equipment.
Southgate’s growing team of specialist technicians provide an extensive on-site and remote repair service to ensure customer downtime is kept to a minimum.
Mark joins the Southgate team with over 26 years’ experience of managing both on site and remote service centres.
The global packaging machinery market was said to be worth $42.8 billion in 2020 and is anticipated to grow, so it’s essential that suppliers provide a support service for customers.
In light of this continued demand for specialist packaging machinery, Southgate provides a growing range of equipment from high tech stretch, shrink wrapping to strapping and case taping machinery, as well as smaller handheld tools and work bench equipment.
Mark Potter said “Our service and workshop team’s focus is on keeping customers up and running, regardless of whether it is a sophisticated piece of equipment or a smaller tool. In the fast-moving world of packaging and logistics, time is of the essence, especially for ecommerce customers who can’t afford to have delays caused by equipment down time.”
Southgate’s highly experienced technicians service and repair a wide range of packaging tools and equipment. As well as offering on site and remote repair, there is also a collection and delivery service if required.
Southgate’s investment in the service team is part of the company’s ongoing, pioneering activity to lead the industry in developing sustainable packaging products. Over the past 12 months Southgate has launched several new sustainable products and has committed to have an eco-friendly option available for every one of its products.
Darren Smith, Head of Marketing at Southgate, said: “Packaging machinery is one of the greatest packaging investments customers make, providing time saving for the packing process. However, it’s important that customers invest in this equipment and stay on top of servicing and maintenance to ensure there is no downtime.”
Darren added: “So we’re delighted to welcome Mark to the team which marks another major step in our growing portfolio of customer focused products and services. 2022 is set to be a year of innovation at Southgate as we focus on supporting our customers and meeting their packaging needs.”
A family run business, Southgate dates back to 1966 specialising in innovative product development and global sourcing. Now serving over 600 leading distributors across the UK and Europe, with customers specialising in warehousing and logistics.
Southgate has achieved a Silver EcoVadis rating, showcasing its focus on driving sustainability within its business and the wider industry. The rating recognises Southgate’s continued focus on cultivating innovative, eco-friendly packaging alternatives.
