SME acquires site for sustainable family homes in Hampshire
BRiCS, the SME developer backed by investment manager Omni Partners, has signed contracts to purchase land for the creation of a new sustainable community comprising 77 homes within Prince Philip Park in Whitehill & Bordon.
With a GDV of circa £36m, BRiCS’ landscape-led development will include a range of two and five bedroom homes built to an approved Design Code inspired by the local Hampshire vernacular. The homes will form a key part of a new lower-density quarter set around the Bordon & Oakhanger Sports Club (BOSC) Pavilion.
The homes will be designed with high standards of fabric and energy performance, significantly ahead of current building regulations and mainstream housebuilders, utilising electric heat pump technologies and photovoltaics to negate the need for gas boilers.
Prince Philip Park is an exciting and innovative large-scale regeneration of the former Prince Philip Barracks, home to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers until 2016.
The site is managed by Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company (WBRC) under a masterplan to bring forward 2,400 new homes, a new town centre, amenities and infrastructure, to make Whitehill & Bordon one of the most desirable places to live, work and play in the region.
BRiCS’ Project Lead, Andrew North, comments: “BRiCS is delighted to secure this rare opportunity to build family homes in a rich landscape setting, to a Design Code that will evoke the feel of rural Hampshire streets. Our vision is to create a vibrant place that brings people together and connects with the wider established masterplan here.”
Project Lead for WBRC, James Child, adds, “BRiCS’ approach accords with ours, working in partnership with stakeholders including East Hampshire District Council, Hampshire County Council and the Whitehill Town Council to deliver high quality sustainable places within the town. SME developers with good experience have much to offer.”
