This week’s round up of London appointments includes Lichfields, MoreySmith and Powertrain Engineering. Read on to find out more.

Ben Simpson, Lichfields

Planning and development consultancy Lichfields has announced a senior appointment as it continues to grow its London and South East operations and mark its 60th anniversary year.

Ben Simpson joins as planning director based at the company’s London office situated in Mincing Lane, where he will be working alongside a 100-strong team of planning and development specialists. He brings over 25 years’ experience to the role with expertise advising on residential development, major projects, urban extensions and new communities.

At Lichfields, he will continue to focus on overseeing major development projects across residential, commercial and public sectors as well working on a number of new business development initiatives.

Matthew Spry, senior director and head of the London office, said, “Ben will be a major asset to the London office, which has seen a strong performance over past two years, coming out of the pandemic.

Eva Aetopoulou, MoreySmith

Renowned design and architectural practice MoreySmith has announced the promotion of Eva Aetopoulou to Associate Architect.

Aetopoulou joined London-based MoreySmith in April 2020 as a Project Architect and has contributed significantly to projects across the UK, including flexible workspaces for Clockwise in Manchester and the refurbishment of 45 Pall Mall for JP Morgan.

Linda Morey-Burrows, founder and principal director at MoreySmith, said, “Eva has developed into an accomplished architect, taking a key role in many of our most significant refurbishment projects over the last two years.

“Her background in delivering high-end hospitality and workplaces is the perfect fit for MoreySmith’s portfolio of projects and the team has loved working closely with Eva. We are proud to announce her promotion to Associate Architect and I look forward to seeing her continue her successful career with us in the years ahead.”

Eva Aetopoulou, now associate architect at MoreySmith, said, “since joining the studio, I have worked closely with the team to deliver a range of innovative projects and I am looking forward to seeing the major refurbishment project at Pall Mall through to completion early next year.”

Manuel Tolosa, Powertrain Engineering

First Hydrogen has appointed Manuel Tolosa as Head of Powertrain Engineering to support its development of hydrogen fuel cell-powered light commercial vehicles (LCV).

For the last 16 years, Manuel has been responsible for hydrogen vehicle development projects at BMW Group (BMW), including the development of the unique BMW iX5 Hydrogen small series.

With First Hydrogen, Manuel will provide leadership and direction in all areas of powertrain technology, innovation and engineering application through to production and post-production. He is responsible for implementing the technology, product and business strategy.

Manuel Tolosa, Head of Powertrain Engineering, says, “I am excited to work with First Hydrogen to establish a leadership position in the design and commercialisation of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles. I am looking forward to bringing all my expertise and skills to deliver the products demanded by the market and our future customers.”
