This week’s national appointments

This week’s round up of national appointments includes The Institute of Directors, IoD Scotland, Shakespeare Martineau and Indra. Read on to find out more.

Paul Hooper-Keeley, The Institute of Directors

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Paul Hooper-Keeley to lead its Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire branch. 

Paul is managing director of Intervallum, a provider of finance director, chief financial officer and non-executive director services. Intervallum supports businesses through turnaround situations, growth and exit transaction projects. He has been a board-level director since 1996 and was the IoD’s 25th Chartered Director, qualifying in 2000.

Paul has served as an ambassador for the IoD’s Greater Birmingham branch and holds non-executive director positions with B: Music and Lichfield Garrick Theatre. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School.

Paul commented: “I want to help to build better directors in this branch. This starts from the aspirations at student level in our universities to right across the spectrum of age and experience.

“We will build a community of directors and put on events that add value to their careers and businesses.”

Catherine McWilliam, Institute of Directors Scotland

IoD Scotland has also announced Catherine McWilliam as the new director of nations - Scotland. Catherine has a decade of experience working in the Scottish business and third sectors, including roles responsible for corporate communications, membership management and professional development.

She joined the IoD team in October 2021 as a senior branch manager and has been appointed as Director of Nations following a competitive recruitment process.

Commenting on her appointment, Catherine said: “I have been part of the IoD team for nearly a year, and I can see the positive impact that the organisation has on leaders who engage with our professional development and networking opportunities.

“Under my leadership, we will continue to provide this support, while also broadening the IoD’s appeal to an emerging band of business leaders who are facing challenges they’ve never dealt with before. That’s the beauty of the IoD – creating a space for business leaders to share experiences and by doing so, we can all rise up.”

11 appointments, Shakespeare Martineau

Full-service law firm Shakespeare Martineau has welcomed 11 trainees, its largest ever cohort. Camilla Uppal will be working from Shakespeare Martineau’s London hub, while Joseph Shields is the firm’s first Scottish trainee and will be based in Edinburgh.

Abigail Lynch, Sarah Johnson, Tait Grundy and Sophie Plant have joined the firm in the East Midlands and will be based in its Nottingham and Leicester hubs. Kiran Kaushal, Katie Parker, Helen Rowland, Lucy Feghhi and Sophie Roberts will be based in the West Midlands, primarily in Birmingham.

The trainees will undertake four six-month seats in a variety of specialist practice areas across the firm, including real estate finance, commercial property, education, social housing and litigation.

Adrian Moores, Indra

Indra, a Malvern based EV and smart energy technology business, has appointed Adrian Moores as its chief executive officer (CEO). With a proven track record in building and scaling fast-growing technology companies, Moores is responsible for executing the company’s ambitious growth strategy in the UK and Europe.

Commenting on his appointment, Moores says: “I’m delighted to be joining Indra at this hugely exciting time. With its proven pioneering technology, backed up by a highly skilled and engaged team with genuine customer focus, I believe Indra is perfectly positioned to convert its vision of a sustainable energy ecosystem into a tangible reality.

“The technology may be highly advanced,” he continued, “but the principle of facilitating access to cheaper, greener and smarter energy that benefits both EV drivers and the wider grid, is one that is easy to understand and get on board with.”

Moores started his career as a qualified chartered accountant at KPMG, before moving into the high-growth technology sector. Prior to joining Indra, Moores was group CEO at P2i, where he oversaw the company’s rapid growth from start-up to substantive, profitable business.

John O’Donohue, chair of the board at Indra, added: “We’re thrilled that Ady has joined us to lead a strong management team harnessing real technology innovation leadership and scaling in the UK and Europe. His deep operational expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow our customer base and operations at pace in the coming months and years.”
