TEN MILLION TURNOVER: UK leading provider of Intravenous Nutrition Therapy, Get A Drip, set for substantial growth
Born out of Letchworth, Hertfordshire and headquartered in Old Street, East London, Get A Drip, the UK’s leading provider of Intravenous Nutrition Therapy have announced turnover of £2.65m for 2021/22 with that figure projected to rise to £10m this tax year.
The news comes amidst an ongoing boom within the wellness market, now valued at a growing $4.4tn, the IV therapy & vein access markets and supplements markets valued at $54.9bn and $163.9bn respectively.
A 77% rise in the global popularity of IV Vitamin Drips seen since 2004 also, it was in 2010 when founder and CEO Richard Chambers, 33, first considered the idea to democratise the administration of IV Vitamin Drips.
“I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on my 18th birthday and three years later found myself rushed into intensive care after suffering with complications.” explains Richard.
Off the back of the experience, in and out of hospital for seven years due to a weakened immune system, Richard was overwhelmed by the benefits of IV treatment as a major factor in his recovery, and set-up the business in October of 2017.
While a host of celebrities from Simon Cowell, Rihanna and Adele to Gwyneth Paltrow, Harry Styles and the Kardashians have been known to use IV Drips, the rejuvenating treatments have often been painted as a luxury reserved for celebrities.
With no affordable options on the market, Richard wanted to provide an alternative, more efficient and cost-effective way for people to supplement their diet to meet the extensive list of vitamins and minerals required to maintain optimum bodily function, not just available in hospitals or for the super wealthy.
Richard explains: “Vitamin Drips are a very effective way of receiving high doses of essential nutrients as they allow the vitamins to bypass the gut and go straight into the bloodstream, therefore avoiding any absorption issues and ensuring the nutrients are 100% bioavailable for the body to use, results felt quickly and long-lasting.”
Since the business’ inception, more than 35 medical professionals have administered over 40,000 Vitamin Drips and Intramuscular (IM) Booster Shots, and seven clinics have opened in Boxpark Shoreditch, Westfield Shepherd’s Bush, Westfield Stratford City, Canary Wharf, Junction 6 Dublin, Brown Thomas Dundrum and Rotterdam.
In addition to these ground-breaking clinics, Get A Drip have opened a further six mobile clinics servicing anywhere within the M25 (Islington, Notting Hill & Battersea), the North East (Newcastle) and the South East of England (Leatherhead, Thurrock), and already have plans to launch a further 29 clinics in the next 3-12 months, including overseas across Europe, North America, the Middle East and in Australia.
Alongside building out their list of franchise sites, they have also gradually expanded their product line to now offer over 15 different IV Vitamin Drips affording benefits spanning tiredness and fatigue, sleep, metabolism, immune function, anti-ageing, hair and skin health, fitness and more.
To ensure the safety of customers at all times, all of the clinics in the UK are CQC registered, upholding the highest of medical standards, and Get A Drip only employ registered nurses, doctors, pharmacists, dietitians and nutritionists.
Even though the products are IV nutrients and not registered medicines, all products are also sourced from pharmacies with GMP (Good Manufacturing Processes) certificates, prepared aseptically in a ‘clean room laboratory’ and rigorously tested to ensure their absolute quality and safety.
Including through building out their franchise portfolio, and continued product and category expansion, Richard hopes to help consumers realise and benefit from IV Vitamin Drips as a mainstream option.
Richard explains: “Many people around the UK are deficient in essential nutrients such as Vitamin D and Vitamin B12, and struggle to get these nutrients on the NHS. We believe that everyone should have access to affordable wellness solutions, without losing quality of product and service.”
Richard adds: “Franchising our clinics was a major breakthrough in our mission to bring accessible and affordable IV Vitamin Drips to the masses. Typically, the drips have only been available to celebrities and the super wealthy - our aim is to overcome that.”
In February 2019, Get A Drip became the first Vitamin Drip company to introduce DNA testing for customers, so any nutritional deficiencies can be identified, and the drip therapy can be tailored specifically to individual needs.
Expansion continued earlier this year with the appointment of Tecsa as an advisor, former Holland & Barrett CEO and founder Tony Buffin, co-founder Dave Battiston and CEO Anthony Morris now providing strategic, operational and partnership advice alongside Tecsa’s investment in Get A Drip.
Get A Drip are on the hunt for further investment to support their growth ambitions too, currently engaged in a Series A fundraise.
