This week's national appointments

This week’s round up of national appointments includes Shoosmiths, Netacea and Shanahan Engineering. Read on to find out more.

Patrick Duffy and Emma Tonge, Shoosmiths

Shoosmiths has added to its real estate division with two new senior hires. The law firm welcomes partner Patrick Duffy and legal director Emma Tonge to its Manchester office, with the duo bringing a combined 50 years of legal experience.

Both Patrick and Emma arrive at Shoosmiths from Addleshaw Goddard. Their specialisms include advising on large-scale regeneration schemes, including residential and commercial development matters, as well as real estate funding and investment.

Patrick’s experience includes advising Cole Waterhouse on the real estate aspects of a £55m refinancing deal for the development of No. 1 Old Trafford.

Emma also recently led the team advising Bruntwood SciTech on the lease to Roku at Manchester’s No. 1 Circle Square. The streaming giant took 115,066 sq ft of space, one of the largest regional office deals recorded in 2021 and the largest in Manchester since 2020.

Andy Lole, Netacea

Netacea, the Manchester based bot detection and mitigation specialist, has announced the appointment of Andy Lole as chief technology officer.

Andy brings over 20 years of technical experience to the role, since beginning his career as a developer. His skills in data science and track record for delivering success led him to take on several senior technical roles in travel and internet retail companies including the likes of SpareRoom and eBay.

As the new CTO, Andy’s focus will be on technical development and innovating Netacea’s current products and services. His experience means he will play a role in communicating to the market how best to deal with bot threats and how Netacea can enhance its customers’ and partners’ services.

Current CTO Andy Still will take on a new role as chief product officer, with a focus on Netacea’s long-term vision and product development.

Andy commented: “Working in internet retail and travel means I’ve witnessed first-hand the problem that Netacea solves. I understand the threat that bots pose and fully believe in the way Netacea tackles this problem. Happily, businesses are now taking notice and seeing the damage bots can do.

Jeremy Gidlow, CEO & co-founder at Netacea, added: “Andy’s experience as someone who has dealt with bot threats in the types of businesses we are working with, means that he’s providing us with great insights into our services as well as refining how we communicate with our customers about the threats they face.”

Kevin McCarthy, Shanahan Engineering

Kevin McCarthy has been appointed vice president of Shanahan Engineering, based in Dublin, UK. Previously, Kevin worked with the business as Shanahan’s Sales Director and has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in his field, and within the Shanahan business.

During his 13-year tenure, Kevin has held multiple roles and since 2015 Kevin has been leading the Shanahan Sales team with the sales, commercial, and recruitment functions reporting to him. Kevin has worked on various projects across the UK and South Africa on maintenance and new build projects before returning to head office in 2012.

Kevin said: “After 13 years working for Shanahan, predominantly in the sales team, I am honoured to be taking on this new role and look forward to working closely with the Shanahan and EthosEnergy teams. I am passionate about developing the company to new highs and inspiring all our employees to seek new opportunities in areas of growth.”

EthosEnergy’s executive Vice President, Fabrizio Fabbri, added: “I am delighted to announce Kevin as vice President of Shanahan Engineering and look forward to working with him. Our focus going forward will be to further strengthen our customer relationships and continue to grow the business.”
