Newcastle University Business School receives international recognition for “excellent achievements”

Newcastle University Business School has been officially re-accredited by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), one of the highest standards of achievement in business education.

EQUIS is a comprehensive quality review system for business and management schools with a fundamental objective of improving management education worldwide.

EQUIS accreditation ensures an in-depth assessment of an institution’s research, teaching, and operations, benchmarking it against international standards in terms of governance and strategy, programmes, students, faculty, research, as well as internationalisation, ethics, responsibility and sustainability, and corporate engagement.

Its focus is on all management programmes offered by an institution from undergraduate to doctoral degrees. The EQUIS accreditation panel praised the Business School for the high quality of teaching and research and its focus on providing creative solutions to global challenges.

Newcastle University Business School has held EQUIS accreditation since 2010. Re-accreditation for five years recognises that the school has exceeded expectations in numerous areas and acknowledges the “excellent achievements and outstanding commitment to continuous improvements”.

The school is also accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA). The EQUIS re-accreditation means that the Business School holds onto its place as one of an “elite group” of business schools worldwide that hold triple accreditation, one of just over 100 in the world to do so.

Professor Stewart Robinson, Dean of Newcastle University Business School, commented: “This re-accreditation from EQUIS re-emphasises our position among the leading Business Schools in the world. It is recognition of the outstanding quality of our School, our staff and our students.”

Dr Eleftherios Alamanos, director of accreditation, Newcastle University Business School, added: “The re-accreditation provides an external validation of the School’s position among the top universities worldwide, the quality of teaching and research within the School, and our commitment to continuous improvement.

Awarding the endorsement, Quality Services & EQUIS director, Alfons Sauquet, noted: “Newcastle University Business School has been accredited by EQUIS since 2010 and has now achieved a five-year re-accreditation. This accomplishment reaffirms the institution’s dedication to excellence and continuous quality improvement.”
