Dr. Rachel Gordon, Explain

North East based insight and engagement agency Explain has strengthened its talented workforce with the addition of experienced researcher Dr. Rachel Gordon. Rachel has joined the team as Associate Director to support Explain’s continued growth.

With a growing national client base, Explain has been providing quality, actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making to a range of organisations across the UK for over two decades.

Following a successful MBO in 2019, and a move to The Core at Newcastle Helix in 2021, Explain has experienced rapid growth. The company has continued to grow revenue and profitability which has led to investment in new solutions and its team over the last three years.

Rachel said: “I am delighted to join the Explain team and to be working alongside a team of talented and dedicated researchers. I am looking forward to contributing to new and ongoing research projects across a range of sectors, to deliver real positive change.”

Ian Clifford & Catherine Earl, Quanta EPC

Specialist oil & gas engineering firm, Quanta EPC, has announced two senior level appointments to help drive forward its growth ambitions and support the UK’s energy security and transition to renewables.

Experienced business leader, Ian Clifford has been appointed as Chairman and Non-Executive of the Board and Chartered Accountant, Catherine Earl will take up the role of Strategic Finance Director. Both Ian and Catherine have a deep knowledge of the global energy industry.

Ian said: “Right company, right market, right time, right place. Quanta has a fantastic reputation in the energy industry and is perfectly placed to support the UK’s energy security strategy and help the sector become cleaner and greener in its drive towards net zero. I am looking forward to supporting the team and its clients through the energy transition and beyond.”

Jayne Andrews, Fentimans

Botanically brewed soft drinks and mixers brand, Fentimans, has announced the appointment of Jayne Andrews as its new Marketing Director to help further cement its market-leading position in the premium soft drinks sector.

Bringing 25-years’ experience to the role, Andrews will lead the Fentimans marketing team on raising brand awareness and driving innovative trial and purchase strategies, whilst monitoring new market trends and evolving consumer expectations.

Jayne brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked with household brands within the grocery, telecommunications, health and technology industries, and more recently led brand marketing for one of the world’s largest travel companies, Carnival Cruise Line.

Andrews was named Travel Marketer of the Year in 2017 following her contribution to the launch of Carnival Cruise Line across Australia and New Zealand, and then went on to relaunch the brand in the US, following the pandemic. She has also held positions of client service director at a leading social media and influencer agency, and marketing director for a fast-growing online dating business.

Michael McMahon, Silverstone Building Consultancy

Silverstone Building Consultancy has announced the appointment of Michael McMahon as a graduate building surveyor at its Newcastle office.

Michael, from Low Fell, is working full-time at the company, whilst also distance learning for a Masters in building surveying at Northumbria University, where he is currently in his final year.

Silverstone Building Consultancy, is a specialist firm of chartered building surveyors and project managers, with offices in Newcastle and Leeds and currently employs 16 staff.

Michael said: “The move to Silverstone Building Consultancy has been carefully considered. Prior to my masters, I completed a BA (Hons) in Business Management and wanted to continue to better my opportunities and to challenge myself within a supportive environment.”

Richard Farrey, director at Silverstone Building Consultancy, said: “We look forward to seeing Michael progress and, throughout the remainder of 2022, we will also be announcing further appointments across our offices in Leeds and Newcastle to reflect our continued growth.”
