North East Marketing Team shortlisted for The Drum award
A Newcastle-based marketing team from US staffing firm Engtal has been shortlisted for the Most Powerful B2B DE&I Initiative Award from The Drum, with the launch of Diversify the Future Foundation.
Diversify the Future Foundation is an initiative designed to reduce inequality across STEM industries by empowering the next generation of talent from under-represented Chicago communities. The foundation is sponsored by Engtal, a leading technology recruitment firms in the US.
For every under-represented candidate Engtal place at a client, they will donate at least $1,000 to Diversify the Future’s scholarship fund. This scholarship fund will then enable individuals from under-represented or disadvantaged backgrounds in the Chicago area to access STEM-specific programmes at any college or university in the US. Through Diversify the Future, Engtal hopes to inspire the next generation of brilliant minds, allow employers to access an enriched talent pool and drive forward inclusivity across STEM industries.
The brand was launched by Engtal’s Newcastle-based marketing team, who work remotely to support the Chicago-based firm. Engtal’s marketing team partnered with local agency El Roboto to develop Diversify the Future’s brand identity and website for the launch of the foundation.
Director of Marketing Laura Brown said “As a remote marketing team based in Newcastle - I never imagined we’d be up for one of the most recognized marketing awards in less than 18 months since launching our remote division.
Managing and operating a marketing strategy from the UK for our US team comes with unique challenges. However, it is also incredibly rewarding - and this nomination is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved in the project.’
CEO of Engtal Christopher Atiyah said ‘I am delighted that Engtal and Diversify the Future have been recognized for such a prestigious award. We’ve already had such a fantastic response to the initiative from our own clients and candidates and contacts in the industry.
‘The vast majority of companies want diverse talent. The challenge is that they all compete for the same small percentage of the market. Diversify the Future aims to support the diverse population in STEM, but more importantly, increase the number of diverse candidates entering STEM.’
Engtal have invested in a Newcastle-based marketing team, launching with Laura Brown to head up the department and expanding to a team of 5 in 2022. As Engtal continues to grow the team is projected to double again next year, investing further in local Newcastle business with the creation of new jobs, as well as working with a range of local suppliers.
