Eldon Square marks successful year with new store openings from global brands

With over 15 new store openings this year, including global brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Swatch and Mango, alongside a number of successful events including the Student Shopping Night, the popular Newcastle shopping and dining destination reports a very successful year.

The success benefits both the centre as well as the local community, with a number of new jobs and business opportunities created for the region. The latest additions to the centre’s diverse range of shopping and dining options come just in time for the festive season, as occupancy levels in the centre “soar”.

Throughout November, Eldon Square will be bringing a combination of global brands and independent retailers, along with a few new restaurant additions, to the centre. This recent announcement comes after a successful start to the year, with footfall up quarter-on-quarter and the malls steadily returning to pre-pandemic levels of visitors and activity.

The latest store openings in the centre include the global fashion retailer of Spanish origin, Mango, who selected Eldon Square as the “ideal location” for one of its three UK stores opening this year. Customers can find Mango’s selection of smart and casual wear on St. Andrews Way, where they can also enjoy newly opened lingerie retailer Bravissimo.

Further additions to the centre’s extensive selection of retail brands include premium footwear and apparel supplier Kick Game and the Eldon Square Pop-Up Shop in collaboration with Barker Proudlove and Catella APAM, both opening on Eldon Way.

Christmas retailer Calendar Club has recently opened, along with Sports Traider (an established charity shop specialising in sports kits and equipment), and Angel Telecoms.

Looking to enhance the customer dining experience, all-you-can-eat world buffet restaurant Cosmo is now open on Newgate Street and will expand the wide variety of authentic cuisines already on offer. George’s Fish Shack is now open in Grey’s Quarter, sure to please all seafood lovers.

Since taking over the asset management of Eldon Square in October 2020, Catella APAM has significantly increased the stability of the centre with nearly 30 new lettings and 40 lease renewals completed in two years.

Bernice Nesham of Catella APAM commented: “We’re delighted to finish this year on such a high note. Welcoming a number of high-profile retailers, as well as independent businesses to our Centre in combination with a growing footfall is the greatest testament to the work that we’ve been doing at the centre.”
