Martin Beanland, Parklane Plowden Chambers

Leeds-based Parklane Plowden Chambers has appointed a new finance director to support the ongoing implementation of its growth strategy.

In his new role, Martin is responsible for the running of all finance matters and supports the decision-making process for the executive and service boards, as well as the senior management team.

Commenting on his promotion, Martin said: “Parklane Plowden is a progressive chambers in every sense, and that includes the way we have transformed how we manage cases and our finances for the benefit of our clients and members.

“In my new role, it is my responsibility to ensure we continually improve our finance function to ensure chambers has the capability and flexibility to enable the ongoing successful delivery of our growth plan.”

Head of chambers, James Murphy, said: “Martin’s promotion is particularly pleasing as by dint of determination and sheer hard work he has progressed from being our accounts assistant in 2015 to a fully qualified chartered accountant in 2021 and now to the key role of finance director.”

Victoria Welton, JLL

JLL has added further expertise to its growing Leeds office with a new senior appointment to its Residential Valuation Advisory team.

Victoria Welton joins as a senior surveyor and brings with her over 12 years of sector experience, having previously worked for firms including Grainger and Countrywide Surveying.

Victoria’s specialisms include sourcing and valuing sites specifically for PRS development, portfolio valuations and mortgage valuations of single assets for secured lending purposes, with past clients including major lending institutions.

This appointment follows a recent period of growth for JLL in Leeds, which has seen it take on a series of new starters this year as it looks to continue developing the region’s property talent.

James Lockwood, head of residential valuation (North and Midlands) at JLL, said: “I am especially pleased to welcome a surveyor of Victoria’s expertise to the team. She brings with her a wealth of sector experience that will be key in widening our support to residential investors and developers across Yorkshire and the North East, providing best in class advice.”

Rhys Davies, CTS UK

CTS UK, the flourishing North Yorkshire-based business supply chain specialist, has strengthened its talented team with a significant management appointment

Rhys Davies joins the CTS UK group, which includes Safeguard Supplies UK Ltd and Corporate Technology Solutions Ltd, as group finance director at a pivotal stage in the Northallerton company’s development.

Rhys, originally from Skipton and now living in Marton, near Middlesbrough, began his career with leading accountancy and business advisory firm Armstrong Watson, where he had worked for 10 years and progressed from Graduate through to Audit Director by the age of 30.

Rhys, who is a graduate of Newcastle University, commented: “The opportunity to join the management team of a young, hungry, vibrant, and fast-growing company was too good to turn down.

“I am excited to be joining a board with a clear vision to which I can add value and support the strategic needs of the business. I am proud to be helping to build on CTS’s reputation as one of the leading business supplies companies in the UK.”
