Ravi Ruia, Richard Harworth

Following continued success in 2022, manufacturer Richard Haworth has appointed Ravi Ruia as its new business development manager, based in London.

Ravi, who has spent the last five years working in the food delivery sector with market leaders Deliveroo and Delivery Hero, will be focused on helping Richard Haworth gain market share in the London Hotel market.

Speaking about his appointment, Ravi said: “Richard Haworth has a rich history and strong product offering which I cannot wait to share with housekeepers throughout London. I am also looking forward to collaborating with a passionate, knowledgeable team we are fortunate to have at Richard Haworth.

“In my previous role I was fortunate enough to lead sales teams in the UK, Ireland, Singapore and Hong Kong, having worked my way up from a tele-sales agent to sales leadership roles.”

Raj Ruia, director of Richard Haworth, added: “We are delighted to welcome Ravi to the Richard Haworth team and have a permanent presence for our clients in London. Ravi is now a third generation Ruia in the business, which was founded by his grandfather, and we are proud that he has chosen to take the next step in his career with us.”

Tony Blake, Q Catering

Wholesale distributor, Q Catering, has appointed Tony Blake as its new commercial director. Tony’s appointment is the third within a series of hires as part of the company’s “ambitious” growth plan to reach £20m turnover by 2030.

Tony leaves Kent Frozen Foods (KFF) to join Steve Clarke, Q Catering’s managing director, and his team during an “extensive” period of growth. He joins the senior leadership team along with recently appointed Caroline Martin, sales director, and Nick Jennings, financial director.

Bringing a wealth of experience with him, Tony left KFF after 18 years of service where he launched various initiatives and headed up a 6-person team. Before that he was in similar roles at Brakes for over a decade.

His career in food service started in childhood at the family’s grocers shop in Devon, followed by training as a chef at aged sixteen, going on to work at various high-end hotels across the country.

In his new role as commercial director at Q Catering, Tony will head up the Procurement, Marketing and Supply Chain teams, introducing more structure to the business, helping to improve efficiencies and relationships with suppliers.

Tony commented: “I am thrilled to join Steve, Caroline, and Nick, at Q Catering at this exciting period of growth. Getting to know the ins and outs of the company and existing clients over the past few weeks has been interesting and rewarding. Q’s customer base is based on years of loyalty and respect, so it’s a great bunch to be working with.”

Matthew Watkins, Menzies LLP

Accountancy firm, Menzies LLP, has appointed Matthew Watkins as tax director to further strengthen the firm’s thriving tax team and pave the way for a new tax dispute resolution service.

With almost 15 years’ experience in tax investigation and resolution, Matthew is joining the firm from BDO LLP, where he spent the last three years within a large tax investigations team. With a focus on Private Client taxation, Matthew will be responsible for advising individuals, including those with corporate interests, on how to resolve complex tax disputes.

Matthew will support clients who need to regularise their tax affairs in the UK, regardless of the source or severity of the underlying issue. He will also support his clients in preparing to litigate their appeals as required.

Matthew Watkins commented: “This is the perfect time for me to start a new role and pave the way for a new tax dispute resolution service at Menzies.

“The firm impressed me from the start – the people, the culture and the way that individuals are empowered to think like entrepreneurs, adding value to client services where there is opportunity to do so. I can’t wait to get started.”

Richard Godmon, partner at Menzies LLP, added: “Matthew’s appointment will further strengthen our expanding team of tax specialists at a critical time, when demand for professional, third-party tax advice is increasing.

“We are sure that his specialist skills and experience in the area of dispute resolution will be highly valued by existing and new clients in the challenging economic climate ahead.”
