Rob Dunnett, Inflexion

Inflexion is pleased to announce it has appointed Rob Dunnett as Investment Director based in Manchester, further bolstering its investment team and presence in the North of England.

Rob will lead the origination and execution of new investments across the North of England with a particular focus on Yorkshire and the North-East. He brings a wealth of investment experience, having spent the last 15 years at Rothschild & Co, most recently as managing director.

Rob has led on M&A activity across an array of sectors with particular focus on Business Services and Technology within the UK, US and across Europe. Prior to Rothschild & Co, Rob gained his ACA with PwC.

Inflexion has had an office in Manchester since 2004 and during that time has backed 15 companies , investing c. £800m in the region. Current investments include DR&P, CMSPI, Radius and British Engineering Services. Successful previous investments include OntheBeach and Bollington Wilson.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Wright, partner and head of Inflexion’s Manchester Office, said, “The North of England is home to a wealth of exciting businesses and ambitious entrepreneurs. Sharon Emslie, Blackhurst Budd Solicitor

Blackpool based Blackhurst Budd Solicitors have appointed Sharon Emslie as a director. Sharon has been Head of the Family Law department since 2019 and is a Chartered Legal Executive. She advises clients on all aspects of relationship breakdown including divorce, finance and children. Sharon is also one of a small number of Lawyers with experience in the law surrounding surrogacy, fertility and adoption.

Having worked in the legal sector since 1997, Sharon studied the ILEX pathway, becoming a qualified Chartered Legal Executive in 2012. She has dealt with a wide range of family law matters including providing advice on high net worth divorces, complex court proceedings and international relocation cases.

Sharon joins the board of directors at Blackhurst Budd alongside Ian Bentley, Rose Spencer and Briony Hayley.

Warren Spencer, managing director commented: “We are delighted to have Sharon on the Board. Since her arrival at the firm her contribution has been fantastic, growing the family team and expanding the services we offer. I look forward working with her on the wider management of the business in the future.”

Sharon added: “The family law team has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and is an area of law that is less effected by the economic climate than others and therefore one we want to grow further. I am thrilled to have been appointed as a director at Blackhurst Budd and look forward to the new challenges that will bring.”

James Griffiths, Adrian Sidaway & Tamara Shaw, Ballards LLP

Worcestershire based accountancy and tax firm, Ballards LLP, has recently made three promotions across its corporate and private client departments.

James Griffiths is stepping up to the role of senior audit manager where he will lead a team working with large corporate clients across the region. Adrian Sidaway, who will work alongside Mr Griffiths, has moved to the role of audit manager. Tamara Shaw, who is both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor, becomes private client manager where she will provide high end tax advice and planning to individuals.

Ben Allman, partner at Ballards LLP said, “Professional development and promoting from within is a key part of what we are about at Ballards. We take great joy in investing into people and watching them progress through their careers. Both Tamara and James joined the firm on our graduate programme and so it has been great to see their development.”

Although the firm promotes from within, due to growth in recent years, the firm has made more than 20 new hires over the past 12 months taking headcount to over 100 and also has a number of key vacancies still to be filled.

Business development partner, Steven Jones said, “We have ambitious but realistic growth plans for the firm for the coming years, and this will require recruiting a number of staff going forward. Simon Concar, adi Group

UK engineering firm adi Group continues to strengthen its position in the marketplace, with a new senior appointment for its Electrical division. Joining adi Electrical as the division’s new managing director, Simon Concar brings a wealth of electrical engineering expertise as well as team leadership and project management skills to the role.

A highly experienced leader with a strong commercial and financial acumen, Simon will utilise his diverse skillset to grow and develop adi Electrical with a strategic approach.

Simon said of his new appointment: “I am thrilled to have such an exciting challenge ahead of me. I was immediately drawn to the role and to adi as a company, both due to its unique turnkey approach to addressing customer needs, as well as its commitment to operating as a responsible business.

Simon is keen to generate positive change both within the adi Electrical team as well as externally, developing the division’s relationships with its customer base and expanding its reach. With over twenty years of experience in the industry, Simon’s wide-ranging areas of expertise include strategy, operations management, quality systems and safety, amongst many others.

Paul Smith, chief operating officer at adi Group, is thrilled to welcome Simon to the team: “We believe Simon will be an incredibly valuable asset to the team,” he commented. “We are particularly excited about the extensive knowledge and skills Simon brings to the role, as well as his ability to deliver complex projects and develop robust strategies for growth.”
