CGIs reveal new service complex set to serve thousands of workers at Teesworks
Plans have been officially lodged to create a service complex to serve thousands of workers on the edge of the Teesworks site.
A 160-bed hotel, two parades of shops and a petrol station are all part of a new services zone to be created near the Trunk Road, at Lackenby.
The services will also feature a convenience store of around 4,500sq ft, a family pub/eatery, and two other freestanding restaurant units. Outline plans and drawings have now been submitted to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
The scheme will serve thousands of construction workers due to come to Teesworks as work gathers pace on major projects, while also offering a stopover location for potential investors a stone’s throw from the rest of the huge site.
Access to the park is set to come via the Trunk Road and from the A1053, with the complex due to include two drive-thru facilities.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen commented: “Teesworks is the single biggest development in the UK and we need to provide facilities which serve the thousands of workers which will come through Net Zero Teesside, SeAH Wind and other game-changing projects.
“We’re in positive talks with a hotel company on operating the facility on the site, and work will be able to start if we get the green light on planning. We’re well under way putting in roads and vital infrastructure across Teesworks, and the Teesworks Service Complex is another piece on the jigsaw
“This will serve thousands of workers but also offer a welcome boost for nearby Grangetown and Teesville and fill a much-needed gap in accommodation near Teesworks.
“We are attracting big names in our projects, and this service complex is yet another case in point of the wider long-lasting impact we want it to have in Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.”
