Newcastle gaming centre expands “immersive” offering with six-figure investment
A North East gaming centre is “leading the way” with the latest in electronic entertainment concepts for all the family.
YuMe World, which is based in Newcastle’s The Gate complex, is a family-friendly high-end games and entertainment centre, which owners say provides a “safe, clean, fun environment”. Since opening in December 2019, it has gone from strength to strength, and has recently invested in a number of games providing immersive game play.
Managing director John Sullivan commented: “In the last three months, we’ve invested £350k into infrastructure upgrades as well as new games, including the latest versions of favourites such as Jurassic Park, Mario Kart and Monopoly.
“Because we wanted to offer the latest and most popular games the market has to offer, we continually reinvest in new games to keep the experience fresh for customers.
“We have also recently introduced our card system to allow a frictionless, cashless experience, allowing a membership incentive to play. The cards can be used by multiple people, for example a family and people can return to spend remaining credits on the cards.”
The venue is also planning to launch a dessert parlour later this year to expand its offering.
John added: “In June, we will be opening YuMe Desserts, a dessert parlour which will give us more scope to offer dining alongside parties. We’ll be offering a variety of sweet treats, including crepes, pancakes, waffles, ice cream and drinks, all of which we’ll be looking to source locally.
“We’ll be hiring for a number of new roles ahead of opening, including a desserts manager, assistant manager and crew members, and we’ve also recently taken on a new YuMe World store manager, Kerrie Rogan, to keep us with increasing demand.”
Kerrie, who has 20 years of experience in managing gaming venues, concluded: “It’s a really exciting time at YuMe World, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team as it expands into new ventures.”
