Cheshire-based Citation Group Recognised in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023

Wilmslow-based Health & Safety and HR provider Citation is thrilled to announce it has been placed in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023. The prestigious list recognises and celebrates organisations with the highest employee engagement and wellbeing levels.

Citation supports and champions over 50,000 SMEs throughout the UK to help them create better businesses and workplaces today, for a better world tomorrow.

Putting engagement at the heart of its business strategy has driven customer retention and an impressive growth record over the last 10 years. This is the fourth time the company has been recognised since 2015 with improved results on each occasion.

The global evidence shows that companies with leading engagement scores, outperform the market across all key measures from quality to safety to customer satisfaction to growth.

Gallup’s State of the Global Workforce Report 2022 showed that globally 19% of workers (627 million) are miserable in their jobs, and that low engagement costs the global economy 11% of GDP, a staggering $7.8 trillion.

Disengagement has a detrimental impact on life, wider society and health – with those who are miserable at work having low levels of wellbeing and 23% more likely to visit A&E.

Citation’s overall engagement score was 83%, with 91% expressing a good relationship with management. Citation achieved impressive scores across the key drivers of employee engagement and workplace happiness including instilling pride (85%) and job satisfaction and feeling they do something worthwhile (85%).

Matt Stewart, Managing Director at Citation, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be named in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023. It’s fantastic to feature in this prestigious list, but the real success for us is the vote of confidence from our colleagues. Creating a great place to work is in our company’s DNA.

“We know that a business is only ever as strong as its people, and happy and engaged employees make better businesses. We’re proud of our diverse colleagues and inclusive culture. It is no coincidence that we have leading employee engagement and leading client satisfaction scores – the two-go hand in hand. Celebrating success is never a time to rest on our laurels, and we’ll use the outcomes of this year’s results to support colleagues in making this an even better place to work in the future.”

Citation values its employees and takes the time to invest in them, development is continuous for all colleagues, with over 40% successfully undertaking more formalised programmes in 2022 across a wide range of skills from Health & Safety to HR to commercial and leadership programmes, including its’ Women in Leadership programme. There are annual peer recognition awards, Mental Health First Aiders, mindfulness sessions, a 24/7 EAP counselling helpline, a wellbeing support, flexible working, and continuous learning training for all.

The Sunday Times Best Places to Work recognises and celebrates the best employers in the UK based on feedback from employees and an independent assessment of workplace culture, leadership, and employee engagement and wellbeing. Citation’s employee response rate was an incredible 94% - a powerful demonstration of their employee engagement.
