Warwick-based engineering firm to potentially double workforce after fit-out of new building complete
An employee-owned hi-tech engineering firm based in Warwick is set to potentially double its workforce after the fit-out of its newly-constructed second building is now officially finished.
3P Innovation, located at Tournament Fields, is soon to expand into additional premises after fit-out specialists Sandell created a virtual carbon copy of its current HQ, which sits just next door.
The recent growth of 3P Innovation, which creates custom engineering solutions for the global life sciences industries meant it was in a position to take on new work and add to its 90 employees.
But it could foresee a bottleneck in its factory space due to its HQ close to being at full capacity, which meant it had to search for additional premises.
3P was able to acquire a plot of land adjacent to its current premises to construct an additional building, containing offices, meeting rooms and a large machine build and development workshop area with a mezzanine and high bay ceiling.
Once the shell was built, the firm contacted Sandell to fit out the interior. 3P had already worked with Sandell on its original building at Tournament Fields, and was asked by 3P Innovation to create an almost exact copy.
After four months of work, Sandell formally handed the building over to 3P Innovation, who hosted a its half yearly company update and a building tour for its staff as part of the opening. Nick Brooks, Managing Director at 3P Innovation, said: “We were very happy with the fit-out work Sandell completed on our first building at Tournament Fields, which has worked so well for us that we essentially asked for exactly the same thing again. “And that’s what Sandell has given us – right down to the location of things like plug sockets and ventilation grills.
“Our staff have already had the opportunity to see the finished building and are very impressed with the fit-out. We’re engineers, so we can tell if measurements are a little bit off – and we’re pleased to say Sandell got it spot-on.
“This new building will mean we have the potential to double in size and continue to take on large projects for our customers without being constrained by space. “We can’t wait to move our staff in and hit the ground running. It will be the start of a new chapter for us.”
Nissar Khan, Head of Business Development at Sandell, said: “We were delighted to have been instructed once again by 3P Innovation to fit out its new building, and it was a lovely moment when we formally handed it over to them.
“We developed a great working relationship with 3P Innovation during the first fit-out, which meant the second project ran incredibly smoothly. “It’s not often we get clients asking for virtual carbon copies of another interior, but it meant the initial design process was more of a formality and sped the project up. “We’re really proud to have delivered a great fit-out for 3P Innovation, and their feedback has been wonderful to hear.”
