Birthday Honours List medal for 'Motivational Queen' Zoe Bennett continues her father’s legacy

People’s champion Zoe Bennett, an international speaker renowned as the ‘Motivational Queen’ from Birmingham, was recommended to His Majesty the King and received the Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) in the Birthday Honours List 2023.

Zoe has fought back from adversity and become known for her dedication to helping others. As the founder of the Multi-cultural Business and Community Champion Awards (MBCC), Zoe promotes a mindset of never giving up. She advocates setting (realistic) goals, and having a clearly defined life strategy. The MBCC recognises and values unsung heroes in the business and community worlds that selflessly go the extra mile; these awards donate annually to many worthy charities and organisations.

Following the advice of an independent assessment process, the recommendation to give Zoe the impressive medal was made by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Her name was published in the Honours List in the London Gazette on Saturday, 17th June 2023. She will be presented with her medal by the Lord Lieutenancy at a special ceremony and invited to Buckingham Palace to attend a Royal Garden Party.

Providing motivational talks and confidence-building workshops for schools and charities, Zoe is an accomplished ambassador for the charity Women and Families Resource Centre in Wolverhampton and Birmingham Youth Sports Academy. She was invited to attend the event at Buckingham Palace to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush and the first Caribbean immigrants in the UK.

Zoe did not plan to become the powerhouse motivator that she is today. The brutal torture and murder of her father in 2011 in his homeland of Jamaica left her traumatised with memories, yet her determination to see justice for him and herself became her breakthrough. She shares her emotive story, covered in the national press to inspire others to take control and define a clear life strategy built on resilience. She feels she is fulfilling her father’s legacy by helping individuals and their families gain a meaningful life to overcome crime and poverty.

With a focus on personal mindset development, employability and entrepreneurship, Zoe is committed to inspiring confidence in all demographics as a Mindset Resilience Coach. Her passion for her audience leads to remarkable transformations. Through her successful training company, Training Personified, Zoe has helped hard-to-reach unemployed individuals with mental health needs at Job Centre Plus. She shows them how to self-coach and gain the mindset where they can get up, get dressed and get out on their terms. Zoe gives people back the desire and passion for wanting to succeed.

Over the years, Zoe has acquired business collaborations, such as a partnership deal with NatWest Business, to deliver her entrepreneur-focused ‘Motivational Queen Masterclass’. Zoe has also worked with the Department of Work and Pensions, EmployabilityUK, Lloyds Bank, NHS, Birmingham City University, and the Big Lottery, plus many more.

On receiving her medal in the Birthday Honours List, Zoe said, “This prestigious award has cemented to me that no matter how hard it gets, you have control of your destiny, whether in your personal or business life. I am honoured and grateful for this recognition that came out of the blue. Our experiences and knowledge shape the present and our futures; I say things do not happen to us but for us to learn from. We sometimes feel it is only us experiencing tough times, but believe me, everyone has something they deal with to different degrees. Some people say they have never had challenges, which is great; however, you do not have to go through something traumatic to show empathy to others. To those that have or continue to go through adverse times, believe that you have it within you, utilise your mindset, persevere and maintain hope.”

Zoe is a Multi Award Winning International Inspirational Speaker and Mindset Resilience Coach widely known as the Motivational Queen, with a flair for networking success. She has featured in the Daily Mail, Mirror, Voice, ITV, BBC Radio, Pick Me Up and Love It magazines. As an entrepreneur Zoe’s book ‘Networking Personified’ can be found in bookshops and online. Her motivational jewellery is purchased and donated to women’s refuges. Zoe stands in her purpose and leads by example as detailed in her Tedx talk 'Get out of your own way'
