GMI Construction Group Announces Retirement of Midlands Divisional Managing Director Andy Bruce

GMI Construction Group has announced that Andy Bruce, its Joint Divisional Managing Director for the Midlands, is to retire.

He will be succeeded by Gareth Jones, who was appointed to the dual role last November as part of the company’s succession planning strategy.

Andy, who has been with GMI for almost a decade was integral in establishing the business in the Midlands and Gareth was one of his first hires nearly five years ago.

Gareth, from Stourbridge, started out in the industry 20 years ago as a trainee site engineer, and studied for a degree in construction management and civil engineering.

Prior to joining GMI, he enjoyed a 12 year career with Galliford Try, where he progressed to site management and project management roles by the age of 23. He later spent five years at Thomas Vale, which was acquired by Bouygues Construction.

Lee Powell, CEO of GMI Construction Group, said: “Gareth possesses tremendous knowledge and ability and I’m confident he will continue to build upon GMI’s considerable achievements across the Midlands.

“I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank Andy for a near decade of service and dedication to the business.”

Gareth Jones added: “I’ve had a great introduction to this key role of Divisional Managing Director and I’m relishing the challenge of ensuring that GMI is the construction partner of choice in the region.”
