Ovenu Leeds North West joins in Barca’s European celebration
Yorkshire Amateur Juniors FC U14 Barca have well and truly repaid shirt sponsor Dean Chew following a 5-0 victory away in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Dean, whose oven cleaning business Ovenu Leeds North West, has sponsored the side since 2021, accompanied the coaches and parents of the lads on the team’s recent tour of Netherlands and Belgium.
The undoubted highlight was a tour of PSV Eindhoven’s training ground where they enjoyed a two hour training session with a professional coach from the former Dutch UEFA Cup winners.
Barca also played a match against a U-15’s Dutch side, which resulted in the stunning 5-0 scoreline. Unfortunately, that proved the only victory out of four matches against U15 opposition on tour, the other three all being tight 1-0 defeats.
Dean, whose son also plays in the U14 side, said: “The trip was organised by Yorkshire Amateur Juniors FC, and it was inspirational for all the lads involved. To have a training session at PSV Eindhoven’s outstanding facilities was a real high point.
“I’m passionate about grassroots sport and it’s great to see how local businesses like mine can play a part in creating memorable opportunities like this for young footballers from Leeds.”
The former TV technician and NHS worker is also a steadfast supporter of Leeds-based charity Zarach, which provides beds to children and their families who are in poverty.
Stephen Broodie, Yorkshire Amateur Juniors U14’s coach, said: “The lads thoroughly enjoyed their time in Holland and Belgium, something that helped them develop as people, as well as on the football pitch. We are grateful to Dean for his continued backing and to all those who helped make this tour a reality.”
Ovenu Leeds North West covers Horsforth, Yeadon, Pudsey, Farsley, Morley, Swillington, Rothwell, Ilkley, Guiseley, Otley, and surrounding areas.
