Michael Lynch, Avant Homes

Sunderland-based Avant Homes North East has strengthened its finance team with the appointment of a finance director to further enable the housebuilder’s regional expansion.

Michael Lynch, who joins from Dandara, has more than 30 years’ experience in accountancy within the housebuilding, manufacturing and automotive sectors. In his new role, he is responsible for Avant Homes North East’s financial reporting, controls and operational analysis as the business expands its footprint throughout the region.

Commenting on his appointment, Michael said: “Avant Homes has a clear strategic expansion plan for further developing the business across the North East. I have joined a highly experienced team and look forward to playing my part in enabling the business to continue on its growth trajectory.”

Welcoming Michael to the business, Avant Homes North East managing director, Don Anderson, said: “Michael is an excellent addition to our business who has the necessary experience and commercial acumen to lead our finance team. He will play a pivotal role in further enabling our growth throughout the region.”

The Avant Homes Group currently operates across the Midlands, north of England and Scotland from eight regional operating businesses.

Georgina Rutter & Vicky Smith, Robson Laidler

Robson Laidler Accountants has promoted a duo of new associate directors at its Jesmond and Chester le Street offices.

Georgina Rutter joined the accountancy firm in November 2017 where she progressed along the firm’s career pathway to become a senior client manager in the audit and assurance team. She is promoted alongside longstanding employee Vicky Smith, who joined the firm as a trainee in 2010 and makes the step up from her previous role as senior audit manager.

Georgina Rutter said: “The audit department has more than doubled in size since I joined the firm and I’m particularly proud to represent a growing team of female leaders in the office. In my new position I am looking forward to expanding my role from overseeing and reviewing audits to delivering more strategic business advice to clients as well as nurturing our growing team to help them reach their full potential.”

Vicky Smith said: “I have attained vastly rewarding experiences advising large multinational corporations with operations across the globe as well as managing audits for local companies, groups and pension schemes. I am eager to continue building my expertise whilst now leading Robson Laidler and helping to ensure we meet our strategic goals as a business.”

Robson Laidler managing director Graham Purvis said: “Both Vicky and Georgina have been valued and respected managers for several years and have demonstrated that they are ready to take that next step to hold a director relationship with their own clients. These new appointments will help us add capacity to our audit and assurance department to help it continue to grow.”

Ricci Boston, Global Underwater Hub

Global Underwater Hub (GUH), the leading trade and development body representing the UK’s £8bn underwater industry has announced the appointment of a new regional manager.

Ricci Boston, who will be based in Newcastle, will be instrumental in increasing engagement among GUH’s members and expanding its membership base in the north of England. He will also be responsible for developing strategic relationships across the region whilst driving GUH’s growth and initiatives for the underwater sectors.

Commenting on his appointment, Ricci said: “I’m thrilled to become the North of England regional manager for Global Underwater Hub based at its new office in Newcastle. My primary focus is to provide more opportunities and platforms for the underwater industry to come together and exchange knowledge and technologies.

“GUH is a forward-thinking and dynamic organisation that is genuinely making a difference across the underwater sectors, prioritising the best interests of industry. I’m looking forward to meeting businesses doing great work in the underwater sectors and helping them to drive opportunities and growth.”

Neil Gordon, CEO at GUH, said: “It’s great to have Ricci on board as the GUH North of England regional manager. His experience and knowledge in the renewable sector combined with his strategic expertise will be invaluable to our organisation and members.”
