Gateshead Metrocentre announces job creation with new “flagship” store opening
The UK’s largest independent fragrance retailer The Fragrance Shop is further expanding its presence in the North East, with the opening of a brand-new “flagship”, and their second Metrocentre store, on Thursday July 27.
The Fragrance Shop will be settling into its new home, located in lower Platinum Mall, opposite Primark, and next to Muffin Break. The new store creates seven new jobs for the local area.
To celebrate the opening of the store, on Saturday August 5, and Sunday August 6, the first 400 shoppers through the door will be gifted with a special goodie bag, filled with samples, discounts, and vouchers.
The Fragrance Shop will also be offering customers a chance to win samples, goody bags, discounts and full-sized fragrance, with their in-store spin the wheel competition. Not only that, but influencer ‘@Eslamghazala_’ will be visiting the store on Saturday August 5 to film content, and gift consumers with prizes in the mall.
Finally, to round off the ‘opening extravaganza’, On Sunday August 6, there will be a Summer Fragrance Masterclass with one of The Fragrance Shop’s fragrance experts, to help you pick your scent of the season.

Regional director of The Fragrance Shop, Steve Brant, commented: “ We are super excited about the Metrocentre store opening. We at The Fragrance Shop pride ourselves on being First for Fragrance through our expertise and passion and I am sure you will see both those factors in abundance when you come and visit us in our new store.
“We will have two stores in Metrocentre going forward for our customers to visit, offering all the product lines which will surprise and delight our large customer base in what is a strong-hold area for us.”
Ben Cox of Sovereign Centros, senior asset manager for Metrocentre, added: “The new larger format store for The Fragrance Shop is a welcome addition and further demonstration of brands upsizing and expanding their stores at Metrocentre.
“Since the start of the year Platinum Mall has welcomed a series of new entrants including Rowen Homes, Moda in Pelle, Hobbs, Skopes and, most recently, Apricot.”
