Charity Wins North East Training Provider / Programme of The Year
We are pleased to announce that Rise and Coach Core, were recently awarded the Training Provider/Programme of the Year Award at the North East Apprenticeship Awards evening. The inaugural NE Apprenticeship Awards were set up this year to showcase individuals and organisations involved in apprenticeships in our region.
The awards evening took place at St James’ Park, Newcastle and saw our Coach Core programme receive the award for Training Provider/Programme of the Year in recognition of the work we do to provide work opportunities for young people aged 16 to 24 who are not in employment education or training and who traditionally experience barriers and discrimination that lead to a lack of opportunities.
Jade Scott, Adult Health and Wellbeing Strategic Lead at Rise said, “We were delighted to receive the award. It recognises the work we’re doing to deliver community sports apprenticeships to those young people who need a chance to begin their own career pathway. It not only helps them to change their own future but also to become a positive influence in their communities.
“The award also recognises the importance of partnership working. The programme would not be possible without the support we receive from Coach Core, Lifetime Training and the employers in our region who offer opportunities to the young people.”
We have been running the Coach Core programme in our area since 2019, working with Coach Core and employers to provide skills, knowledge and real-life, paid experiences to the apprentices. Many have gone on into full time employment, while others have gone on to further training to help them reach their careers goals.
Phase Three of the Coach Core programme begins in September, where we will recruit 16 – 20 apprentices who will be given the opportunity to earn money as well as gaining a Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification and a Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Multi-skills Development in Sport as a minimum, with the opportunity to access additional CPD opportunities throughout the 15 month programme.
