Sheffield shopping and leisure destination unveils new look following refurbishment
Orchard Square shopping and leisure destination based in the heart of Sheffield has revealed its futureproofing refurbishment programme this month, 35 years on from first opening, marking the start of a new era for the city centre’s open-air square.
This month sees the completion of extensive refurbishment work within the Square, including new and improved paving throughout, managed by ABR; the installation of awnings, managed by Deans Blinds, and a central canopy managed by Architen to provide this popular destination with a dedicated and weatherproof event space.
Orchard Square manager Shay Murray, commented: “The updated Square offers our tenants and customers a modern look and feel, alongside covered outdoor spaces, which will be used for city centre events and gatherings - providing even more reasons for people to visit.”
Alongside the refurbishment, the Square now boasts a line-up of new tenants including, The Old Shoe, offering one of the UK’s “most diverse” drinks list with a rotating selection of 20 draft lines, a range of ciders including products made on site, plus a varied array of wines, and the award-winning, authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurant, Proove.
In addition, Game Show All-Stars, from the owners of the Great Escape Rooms, will be opening in the Square this September forming part of the Square’s diverse offer which includes TK Maxx, Waterstones, Sheffield Plate independent food hall, Terrace Goods, Body Shop and many more.
Murray continued: “Following the recent lettings we have limited opportunities in the Square, which is good news for our visitors who enjoy our vibrant community in the heart of the city as a destination to eat, drink, shop, socialise, work and relax.
“This is an exciting time for the city centre generally, given various current regeneration works across Sheffield. Orchard Square is thrilled to be part of that programme, and pioneering this new era for our city.”
