Aberdeen firm appoints 'accomplished' head as they push for expansion

R&B Switchgear Group (R&B) has appointed accomplished Aberdeen head and invested in prime commercial space as it seeks to create a high-performing culture, primed for a new era of growth.

Formerly E&I Superintendent for Altera Infrastructure, Neil Atkinson brings more than 20 years’ experience from the international oil & gas industry, along with technical expertise from his time working in the petrochemical, polymer processing and micro-chip sectors.

Neil will head up operations in the Group’s Aberdeen office, pioneering the development of a new business strategy to drive the direction, recruitment and expansion of the newly created business division, R&B Switchgear Services (Aberdeen) Ltd.

Neil’s offshore industry experience runs deep and in his previous role he was responsible for leading teams and implementing preventative & condition-based maintenance programmes across power generation systems & electrical networks.

His new remit will focus on nurturing R&B’s long-standing client relationships and providing best-in-class technical support, whilst seeking opportunities for further expansion in emerging sectors.

This latest appointment comes as the business seeks to invest in it’s existing regional footprint by relocating the team to a larger, contemporary commercial unit at Unit 7, Airways Industrial Estate in Dyce. The newly constructed office, workshop & conferencing space boasts a fully fitted workshop & testing areas to undertake on-site repairs, equipment testing, retrofits and modifications.

Speaking of the new appointment, managing director Mark Beswick said: “We are entering an exciting new era for R&B Switchgear Group and the decisions we make today will shape the company of tomorrow.

“Neil’s expansive leadership experience coupled with his impressive technical background will play a critical role as we set the foundations for an ambitious period of growth in Aberdeen and the wider region.”

Neil Atkinson commented: “The vision and potential of the R&B Group of companies is hugely exciting to me. With a legacy spanning almost 40 years, the business has evolved a great deal over the course of its impressive history - and it continues to tackle new technical challenges and set new industry benchmarks.

“I look forward to working with the team as we plan a bright and bold future for the Aberdeen business and its people.”
