M-Cube reveals ‘Blue Zones’ musical experience in collaboration with wellbeing market
- ‘Blue Zones’ are the areas of the world where people live longest and happiest, including Ikaria in Greece, Ogliastra in Italy, Nicoya in Costa Rica, Okinawa in Japan and Loma Linda in the USA
- M-Cube has curated audio experiences inspired by each location which can be selected by customers
M-Cube, the in-store digital solution provider, has today revealed a ‘Blue Zones’ musical experience in collaboration with the wellbeing market.
Inspired by the world’s ‘Blue Zones’ – specific locations where people live longest – M-Cube has curated five bespoke soundscapes for customers to handpick and personalise their luxury experience in treatment rooms. Ikaria in Greece, Ogliastra in Italy, Nicoya in Costa Rica, Okinawa in Japan and Loma Linda in the USA are considered ‘Blue Zones’, and M-Cube’s musical curation makes clear reference to the places and celebrates their heritage.
The initiative is a result of the M-Cube team studying sociocultural context and typical sounds linked to these territories, including traditional instruments and geography of artists, before experimenting and refining the overall sound for a meditative, contemporary feel. Genres of new age, organic lo-fi and ambient dominate the sounds to ensure a relaxing listening experience. Artists include Costa Rican pianist, composer and producer Manuel Obregon, and Greek quartet Sokratis Sinopoulos.
Upon arriving for treatments at the centres, customers can select their preferred musical experience, between five different soundtrack options, allowing a customisable and immersive journey. By doing this, enjoyment and, ultimately, relaxation is boosted, which ensures increased customer satisfaction.
“We’re delighted to unveil this sound design collaboration with the luxury market,” Mike Sponza, Group Music & Licensing Director at M-Cube noted. “To capture the heritage and feel of the wonderful ‘Blue Zones’ locations is something we wanted to ensure was respectfully done, while also resulting in a calming journey for customers. We’re really pleased with the end product and look forward to growing our audio offering moving forward, with the potential of extending its application to other areas such as the catering sector.”
