Gardiner Richardson donates free strategic work to support Northumbria University start-ups

Gardiner Richardson will provide a day’s pro bono brand strategy support as part of the Higher Education Without Barriers fund.

The strategic brand communications agency, co-founded by former Northumbria University alumnus, Darren Richardson will help develop the brands of start-up businesses Cricketqube and Mila Clothing.

Alosh Jose – a Northumbria University graduate - created Cricketqube in 2021. The business hosts short format indoor cricket tournaments with a key ambition of helping people stay active and enjoy sport. Mila Clothing was created by Amelia Wright with support from Northumbria University’s Graduate Future team. The clothing brand produces bespoke and customisable products.

Alosh and Amelia were selected as part of judging undertaken by Gardiner Richardson’s Darren Richardson and Jen Hallam; Northumbria University’s James Wilkinson and Graham Baty; and North East Time’s John Duns - who is also supporting one business with in-kind advertorial content in the magazine.

Alosh K Jose, Founder of Cricketqube, said: "Winning Gardiner Richardson's support for our healthy ageing app's branding is incredible! Their expertise will be pivotal in shaping a compelling brand identity, crucial as we engage potential customers and strive to make a significant market impact."

Support from agencies such as Gardiner Richardson and North East Times continues to progress Northumbria’s successful Higher Education Without Barriers programme. With engagement from alumni, businesses, and charitable partners, the programme provides a range of financial initiatives, mental health and well-being services, and community-based projects, to make participation and progression in higher education accessible for students.

From generous donations of time, money and expertise, the Fund has raised over £3.1 million, created 160 new scholarships, and supported more than 2,000 students since launching in January 2022.
