Pledge to create ‘life-changing opportunities’

Newcastle University and wealth management specialist Raymond James, Monument have joined forces to “help transform the lives and aspirations” of disadvantaged young people.

The firm has made a five-year pledge to support pioneering charity IntoUniversity’s Newcastle East Centre, which offers face-to-face educational support to local students from year four through to sixth form, many of whom lack access to academic guidance or mentorship at home.

And for Raymond James, Monument, which has established a reputation for delivering personalised financial services to a growing client base, this provides an opportunity to give back to the local community.

Chartered wealth manager James Carrick said: “By supporting this centre, we can help transform the lives and aspirations of over 1,000 students annually.”

Branch principal Gary Fawcett added: “Our pledge aims to help address educational disparities and empower underprivileged young people across Newcastle.

“Around 60 per cent of students who use IntoUniversity go on to apprenticeships, degrees, or higher education of some sort, that otherwise wouldn’t have done, which is an amazing result.”
