Teesside’s Scream Factory nominated for top honours
A popular Halloween event has been nominated for two national awards that recognise its immersive and creative visitor experience.
Scream Factory, based at Kirkleatham Museum, in Redcar, and known for its Extreme and Twilight Tours, has been shortlisted for ‘Best Visitor Experience’ and ‘Most Creative Production’ at the Access All Areas awards, held at the O2 in London.
Managing director Stephen Tate said: "It is an honour to be recognised alongside some of the UK’s most notable festivals and events.
“I'm incredibly proud of the team who bring the event to life each year."
Launched in 2012, Scream Factory has grown into a hugely popular attraction that is ‘a must-see for Halloween enthusiasts’, continuing its success after a brief pause during the pandemic.
Last year, it drew nearly 30,000 visitors, including guests who travelled specially from the USA and Europe, with the event being celebrated for its Hollywood-quality sets and professional actors.
Stephen added: "As a small family-run business, it's incredible to see how much Scream Factory has evolved. We're really excited to see what the future holds."
Casting director Paul Benson was also “thrilled” with the two nominations.
He added: "Recognition like this, along with feedback from our visitors is what makes the job so worthwhile.
"Each year we try to enhance the experience by adding more sets and scares to keep our loyal fans coming back for more."
