A Brilliant Auction to be held in Durham
A new general auction house has set a date for its first valuation event in Durham later this month.
And organisers are throwing in free valuations for small items - or photos of big ones - which may be hidden away in peoples’ homes, to encourage new visitors.
Brilliant Auctions will host their first ever valuation event on Tuesday, November 12 upstairs at Café in the Quarter in Prince Bishops’ Place in Durham city centre.
The event, which will be held across four hours from 11am, is expected to attract visitors from across the region, with some looking to experience an auction for the first time.
And anyone with small items or photographs of large items is welcome to bring them along on the day for a free valuation by experts.
Brilliant Auctions is a new general auction house, which started online, and the company’s founders say they have a particular interest in coins, cameras, vinyl, automobile/motorbike memorabilia and curios.
The valuations will be made by Seppe Anthony who has worked in the antiques trade for more than 30 years and who has a wealth of experience in buying and selling all things old, vintage and interesting.
Aside from general items such as ornaments and furniture, Brilliant Auctions has experience selling cameras and photographic equipment, coins, vinyl, Lego, comics and other curios that are not yet considered ‘antique’. The team will be on hand to assist with the valuation of a variety of different items.
Michelle Hill, managing director of Brilliant Auctions, said: “With our passion for all things old, antique, vintage and retro, we’re committed to making the auction experience fun and welcoming, and to helping weird and wonderful things find a new home with someone who loves them.
“We’re so excited about our first valuation day – we started out as an online auction house so this will give us a great opportunity to welcome customers in person and explain the process to any auction newbies.
“Auctions are great fun, but also crucial at a time when so many of us are looking for value for money and are concerned about sustainability.”
