Physio firm in good health after deal

A physiotherapy firm has stretched its market presence with a takeover.

Sano Physiotherapy has bought The Oxford Physiotherapy Service.

Bosses at the Leeds-based operator say the deal will “accelerate its ambitious growth plans… and allow it to support more patients across a wider geography”.

Founded in 2010 by Matt Taylor, Sano provides services to the private sector, NHS organisations and UK brands through on-site occupational health physiotherapy clinics and ergonomic assessments.

It also supports public-sector organisations, including 14 local authorities and several blue light groups.

Based in Oxfordshire, The Oxford Physiotherapy Service – which trades as tops:health – was founded in 1984 and is led by managing director Nicola Graham.

It provides a range of physiotherapy and sports massage services, as well as rehabilitation, performance and clinical Pilates classes.

Matthew Taylor, Sano managing director, said: "This is an exciting time as we continue to accelerate our ambitious growth plans in the private physiotherapy space.

“We very much look forward to working with Nicola and the team, and by joining Sano, we will ensure the ongoing success tops:health has built in the local community.”

Nicola added: “As a highly experienced team of practitioners and movement professionals, we are delighted to join the Sano group at a time where private healthcare is experiencing rising demand and the market is evolving."

Sano was advised on the deal by Leeds-based law firm Ward Hadaway.

Adrian Ballam, Ward Hadaway partner, added: “This acquisition marks an important step in Sano’s expansion, and strengthens its reach within regional healthcare markets across the UK.”
