Thompsons Solicitors appoints new North East regional leader
Thompsons Solicitors, the UK’s largest trade union law firm, has named Fiona Belgian as its new North East regional managing partner.
Based in the Newcastle office, Fiona brings over 20 years of legal expertise and leadership to her new role, having begun her career at Thompsons in 2003 and has since built a strong reputation representing clients across the North East, Yorkshire, and Cumbria.
Her leadership has helped secure a band-one ranking in the Legal 500 for the firm’s North East personal injury and clinical negligence team this year.
As a participant in the firm’s ‘Amplify Partnership’ programme, Fiona exemplifies Thompsons’ commitment to professional growth and advancing women in leadership roles.
She said: “I’m honoured to step into this role, leading such a talented and dedicated team who all share a steadfast commitment to justice.
“Together, we will continue to work with the proud trade unionists in this region and all those injured or mistreated to ensure they receive the legal support they need and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
“Thompsons has always stood as a champion for the rights of the injured and vulnerable, and I am proud to continue that mission, supporting those who need it most in the North East.”
Thompsons Solicitors has a long-standing presence in the North East, specialising in employment law, serious injury claims and asbestos-related disease cases, while continuing to champion workers’ rights and social justice nationwide.
Clare Mellor, chief executive of Thompsons Solicitors, added: “Fiona’s extensive experience in serious injury and medical negligence, combined with her dedication to securing justice for clients, makes her an ideal fit for this role.
“She has consistently shown her passion for helping individuals and families through challenging times and her commitment to the North East.
“I am confident that, under her leadership, our North East team will continue to thrive and make a meaningful impact on the region and the lives of those we are here to support.”
