EY bolsters regional growth with new recruits
A leading professional services firm has expanded its regional workforce with significant investments in early talent, bolstering opportunities for graduates and school leavers across the UK.
EY has welcomed 115 new recruits across its Manchester and Newcastle offices, including 79 graduates and 36 school leavers, as part of its wider strategy to strengthen regional presence.
Manchester recorded the largest intake outside London with 80 recruits, while Newcastle welcomed 35. Together, the offices also provided paid work experience to 32 young people through summer internships and industrial placements.
Stephen Church, EY’s north market leader and managing partner for Manchester, said: “I am incredibly proud that we have created jobs for 80 graduates and school leavers in Manchester this year, representing a significant investment in our regional business.
“We provide a range of entry routes into the firm, from our internship schemes to our school leaver and graduate programmes, so that we’re able to attract the best diverse talent.
“These new hires underscore our ongoing ambition in the region as we continue to prioritise top talent and offer our people exciting and fulfilling career opportunities, which in turn helps to drive growth both for our clients and our business.”
His comments were echoed by Michael Scoular, EY’s Newcastle office managing partner, who added: “I am delighted that EY has created jobs for 35 graduates and school leavers in Newcastle this year.
“We are proud to be a significant employer in the North East, with over 800 people based in our Newcastle office.
“Our new student recruits highlight our growth ambition in the region and will enable us to develop the top talent needed to serve our clients.”
This recruitment is part of EY’s broader effort to expand its regional footprint, with 43 per cent of its 2,400 new appointments over the last financial year based outside of London, while nearly half of the firm’s 1,600 graduates, school leavers and interns since January are based in regional offices.
Meanwhile, the firm’s dedication to nurturing talent was further underlined by achieving an 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating across all aspects of its Level 7 Accountancy and Taxation Apprenticeship in England.
