Clive Owen LLP earns training praise

A North East accountancy firm has achieved an accolade for its commitment to employee training and development.

Clive Owen LLP, with offices across Darlington, Durham, York, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, has been awarded Platinum status under The 5% Club’s Employer Audit Scheme, marking a “milestone” in the firm’s “unwavering commitment to nurturing talent”.

This places the firm among an elite group of employers, such as DHL, Lidl and GlaxoSmithKline, celebrated for their excellence in workplace learning initiatives.

Gary Ellis, managing partner at Clive Owen LLP, said: “Achieving Platinum status is a tremendous milestone and reflects our unwavering commitment to nurturing talent.

“Our bespoke training initiatives and high levels of workplace learning participation underline our belief in investing in our people as the cornerstone of our success.”

The recognition follows the firm’s earlier success, receiving The 5% Club’s Earn & Learn Scheme Award for having the highest percentage of its workforce engaged in recognised workplace learning schemes.

Clive Owen LLP’s bespoke training programme, ASPIRE, supports career progression through tailored pathways, technical training and mentorship. The programme includes regular one-to-one meetings between line managers and trainees, focusing on training plans, course engagement and support from talent coaches, helping foster a “culture of continuous improvement”.

Learning and Development Pathways, guided by technical training experts, align skills and behaviours with specific roles and career levels, ensuring individual career goals are fully supported.

Annual colleague surveys also provide valuable feedback, helping the firm refine its training programmes and remain responsive to employee needs.

Karen Fawcett, L&D adviser, added: “Our goal is to create a culture of continuous improvement, where every individual feels supported in their professional growth.

“From apprenticeships to advanced career pathways, we are proud of the comprehensive support we offer and the positive impact it has on our team.”

Of the firm’s 150 employees, 27 graduates are currently in formal training, while numerous colleagues are enrolled in continuous professional development schemes. With plans to recruit over 20 apprentices in the coming year, the firm’s dedication to nurturing talent is clear.
