Pryers Solicitors adds to Court of Protection team
Pryers Solicitors has expanded its Court of Protection (CoP) team with the appointments of solicitors Sian Thompson and Shanice Blackwood-Martin, alongside paralegal Zoe Gospel.
Sian Thompson brings nearly 30 years of legal experience, specializing in managing high-value compensation settlements. Her expertise as a CoP deputy and professional trustee bolsters Pryers’ capacity to handle complex deputyship cases.
She said: “Pryers has an excellent reputation for managing high-net-worth injury trust and deputyship cases, and I am happy to be part of this experienced team.
“The firm’s specialist environment will allow me to offer clients a service that’s second to none, supporting them in making positive changes after receiving compensation.”
Shanice Blackwood-Martin, with six years of experience, enhances the team’s client-focused approach, particularly for families navigating long-term injury cases.
Shanice added: “I’m passionate about mental capacity law and supporting people with managing their legal and financial affairs during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.”
Zoe Gospel joins as a CoP paralegal after gaining valuable experience in the firm’s clinical negligence and personal injury team, equipping her to support families dealing with life-changing injuries.
Led by solicitors Carmel Walsh and Robyn Hawxby, Pryers’ CoP team brings over 50 years of combined experience in managing high-value settlements for children and adults with brain injuries.
Based in York, the team operates nationally, offering property, financial, and personal welfare advice for individuals lacking mental capacity.
Carmel Walsh, Pryers partner, added: “This expansion marks a significant move for our team, adding to our capacity while strengthening the personal approach that sets us apart.
“With Sian, Shanice and Zoe as part of the team, we’re now even better equipped to support clients in their most vulnerable moments, helping families build stable futures.”
