Hotel deal sealed as Mincoffs advises sale
A North East law firm has supported the multi-million-pound sale of a Cheshire-based luxury hotel and wedding venue.
Mere Court Hotel, a four-star country house near Knutsford, has been sold to a North West hotelier, with Newcastle-based Mincoffs Solicitors advising long-term client and seller Ailantus.
The 34-room hotel, set within seven acres of grounds, features an AA Rosette restaurant.
Ailantus, which also owns the George Washington Hotel, Holiday Inn Gosforth Park and Quality Hotel Boldon, has worked with Mincoffs for more than 25 years.
Corporate partner John Nicholson led the transaction, working with Ailantus’ director Neel Chawla, with support from other members of the Mincoffs’ team including corporate solicitor Grace Hughes, real estate associate solicitor Keith Ravenhill, employment partner Nick Smith and licensing and gaming partner Matt Foster.
John said: “Ailantus are a longstanding client of the firm and Mincoffs has advised Neel and the team on their portfolio for a number of years.
“It was our pleasure to act on the sale of this venue, as part of the group’s ongoing restructure.
“Neel and his team continue to look to expand across other areas and identify opportunities for growth, and we look forward to working together on other transactions as they arise.”
Neel added: “The corporate team, spearheaded by John, have once again transacted diligently and efficiently in our group’s first hotel asset disposal.
“We look forward to working with Mincoffs on future transactions.”
