Hartlepool homes receive £4.4 million upgrade
Hundreds of homes in Hartlepool have received major upgrades as part of a £4.4 million investment programme.
Social housing provider Karbon Homes has partnered with contractor RE:GEN Group to improve 267 of its homes across the town.
The upgrades have included new kitchens and bathrooms, electrical rewires and heating system replacements.
Steven Colby, head of planned investment at Newcastle-headquartered Karbon Homes, said: “We’re really pleased with the results of this major investment work so far - a proactive programme which has helped ensure our homes in Hartlepool are great quality and provide our current and future customers with a great place to live.
“We have a fantastic working relationship with RE:GEN, having partnered with them on many successful investment projects similar to this, and we’ve worked closely with the team and our customers to design a programme that helps minimise disturbance as much as we can.”
As part of Karbon Homes’ Unlocking Social Value programme, RE:GEN also supported the Belle Vue Centre by donating and fitting a new kitchen for the community’s youth club, providing meals for over 200 children a week.
Additionally, £1,445 was secured to fund a new sensory room for the nursery, benefiting children with special educational needs and local organisations.
Dave Brown, operations director for RE:GEN North East, added: “Knowing that we would be working in the Hartlepool area for almost 15 months, we were determined to find ways to leave a positive impact on the community, beyond just improving homes.
“As a purpose-driven organisation, our entire team is committed to a culture of enhancing lives and communities through the work we deliver.
“Building the relationships we did with the community centre, making these improvements felt like a natural way to create lasting positive change that is going to benefit so many young people within the community.”
Nichola Kennedy, Belle Vue Centre manager, added: “We couldn’t have been happier to accept this incredible generous donation, and we’re delighted with the end result.
“Having the team at RE:GEN working from the centre has been a great benefit, and we’ve built a lovely relationship with them.”
