Newcastle business hub set to help SMEs take-off
A multi-million-pound business hub has opened near Newcastle International Airport.
The 10,200sq ft International Space Station (ISS) Airview, the brainchild of regional business leader Ammar Mirza, is the latest addition to AirView Park.
Officials say it will help North East SMEs scale up and take advantage of global trade and export opportunities, with the airport, recently crowned ‘best in the world’ at the World Routes Conference, located only a mile away.
Providing flexible workspaces, office suites and conference facilities, ISS can accommodate more than 150 desks, providing “local businesses with the resources and connections needed to engage with global markets” such as South Asia, Turkey, the Middle East and the Netherlands.
Ammar said: “It’s incredibly exciting to see our plan for the UK’s first dedicated international trade hub come to life.
“ISS Airview will offer a launch pad to help scale-ups grow globally, and a soft landing for inward investment, ultimately showcasing the significant strengths and assets from across the North East.”
Mark Hunt, Newcastle International Airport chief financial officer, added: “The opening of ISS Airview marks a significant milestone for the North East’s business community.
“This facility will provide local businesses with the resources and connections needed to engage with global markets, helping to attract more investment, drive innovation and create new jobs throughout the region.”
Plans are also in place for an additional 11 offices at AirView Park, with building work set to begin later this year.
