Mincoffs backs rugby star’s testimonial year
A North East law firm is celebrating a rugby star’s career achievements by sponsoring a year-long series of events in his honour.
Newcastle-based Mincoffs Solicitors is supporting Michael Young’s testimonial year, marking his impact on the sport, which included over 200 appearances for Newcastle Falcons.
The Hartlepool-born 36-year-old scrum half, a product of West Hartlepool Rugby Club, also played for Leicester Tigers, Bath, Toulon and Gloucester before calling time on his career in 2024, as well as enjoying international success with England 7s and England Saxons.
Mincoffs will be providing corporate and commercial support to Michael across his testimonial year, which features events such as a dinner with football legend Alan Shearer, a pre-Lions tour dinner and a 'golf day with a difference', raising funds for Michael’s chosen charities, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and the Alan Shearer Foundation.
Michael said: “I’m very excited with what’s to come over the next year and I’m hugely grateful for Newcastle Falcons awarding me the testimonial.
“I massively appreciate the support shown from Mincoffs already and I’m really looking forward to working with them moving forward.”
Matthew Flinders, commercial director at Mincoffs Solicitors, added: “A testimonial year is an incredible career milestone and one which is thoroughly well deserved for Michael Young.
“We are delighted to be supporting not only Michael but also his chosen charities, which carry out incredible work in the communities they represent.
“Here at Mincoffs we are big sports supporters at every level, and we look forward to following Michael’s testimonial year and all he achieves through it.”
