Dinsdale Farming grows with Musterfield deal
A family-run chicken farming firm has expanded with a takeover.
Dinsdale Farming has bought York-based Musterfield Poultry Growers.
Bosses say the deal will nearly double the size of Dinsdale Farming’s broiler chicken operation, leaving it primed to “produce hundreds of thousands more stock for the retail market”.
Dinsdale Farming, based at Low Dinsdale, near Darlington, is run by Henry Dent alongside parents Trevor and Sue.
Henry said: “It has been a long-term goal for me to expand the family business.”
The Dent family was supported by the corporate finance and tax teams at accountancy and business advisory firm Armstrong Watson, which has offices in Newcastle, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
David Wilson, Armstrong Watson corporate finance partner, who worked alongside Helena Lorimer, Hayley Deeming, Hydeam Sulton and Brian Rudkin on the deal, said: “Dinsdale Farming has been a hugely successful family business for decades.
“This acquisition further strengthens their presence in the poultry farming sector.”
Andrew Robinson, Armstrong Watson senior agricultural partner, who also worked on the deal, said: “It’s fantastic to see a family business pushing on, but also seeing Trevor and Sue backing Henry, who has driven this acquisition.”
Mike Spetch and Charlotte Patterson-Ryan, of law firm Muckle, also advised on the deal.
Charlotte, a partner with the Newcastle-based operator, added: “This was an incredibly fast-paced transaction with many moving parts.
“Working around the clock, we achieved the result needed within tight timescales.
“It’s a privilege to help clients navigate these complex deals and secure opportunities that drive their growth.”
